Corona caps 2020

Submitted by: Shiya Papaya

Materials: Wool, cotton, acrylic

My mother has been knitting caps with odd bits of yarn she has in her stash. She will eventually donate them to a worthy cause. Creating these colourful caps has kept her hands and mind busy at this time when she’s often at a loss as to what to do.

There’s No Place Like Home Card

Submitted by: Rochelle Ann

Materials: Metallic, silk and rayon threads stitched onto scrapbooking paper then mounted onto card stock

I am a fibre artist who wanted to use my embroidery skills to help out during the COVID crisis. This artifact is a greeting card created using a technique called Embroidery on Paper. I found the design (without the letters) on Pinterest about a month ago. I stitched the design into a card then added the words. I send it as an e-card to friends and relatives and put it on my front door and on my FACEBOOK page.

Books for Isolation

Submitted by: Julie McLeod

Materials: Books

The books in the stack haven’t been read as I don’t seem able to focus long these days. The one on the right is a book about art so it’s mostly pictures and more manageable – I leaf through and leave it open to paintings I particularly like so that I can pause for a brief respite as I walk through the room during the day.

This is an historical mystery/puzzle painting on 12 separate canvases measuring roughly 100 sq. ft. using overlays of maps, Fibonacci numbers, famous icons, languages and historical figures are key clues in solving the puzzle. Each piece was sold separately. I have one. It was done in three wintery months with the aid of much single malt.
