World Book Encyclopedia

Submitted by: Thereza Dos Santos

Materials: iPhone, World Book Encyclopedia, my 11 year old

I’ve devised some of my own homeschooling for my 11 year old. This is the World Book Encyclopedia Exercise. When my parents downsized, I got the complete set. For this exercise, I pick a topic, like Portugal, and type out 8 questions. She has to locate the topic and and find the answers. And she likes it! There’s a connection to little me, who used these books for research, and her grandfather, who was ALWAYS pulling down a volume for reference and is no longer with us.

Sultan

Submitted by: Susan McCulloch

Materials: Sultan the Cat, outdoors, books

This is Sultan, my male polydactyl (6 toes each foot) Turkish Angora. He is helping me put hearts in the windows to say hello to my neighbours

Oh look! It is Sultan again. Wanna play? He loves having me home all to himself.
Sultan does not look too happy in this next photo. I decided that we both needed some fresh air and took him to the lake. Don’t worry. He was not on a leash the entire time. He has his own pet stroller for easy transport.
Sultan in the stroller.
Home again, with Sultan in the stroller.
Sultan is tired.
These are books my friend in Nova Scotia sent me. Each week of isolation, I have posted a gift to one of my friends. I should own shares in Canada Post.
Sultan likes the smell of this box. All the way from the Maritimes.
Sultan again! This time at Crescent Beach. I carry him in his own cat knapsack. A pretty trick item.

Books for Isolation

Submitted by: Julie McLeod

Materials: Books

The books in the stack haven’t been read as I don’t seem able to focus long these days. The one on the right is a book about art so it’s mostly pictures and more manageable – I leaf through and leave it open to paintings I particularly like so that I can pause for a brief respite as I walk through the room during the day.

My chickens have become my focus since the library I work at shut down. I took this funny picture to cheer up my storytime kids, until we can meet again in person. They really cheer me up.
